  • What is SIBO?

SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) is an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine that are normally found only in the large intestine. This overgrowth can lead to digestive problems, bloating, and nutrient deficiencies.

    Diagnostics

To diagnose SIBO, a breath test is used that measures the concentration of hydrogen and methane after ingesting sugar solutions. These gases are produced when bacteria ferment sugar in the small intestine.

Key parameters of our SIBO test:

    H2

    Hydrogen

    CH4

    Methane

    Testing process

The breath test involves drinking a sugar solution. Afterward, the gas composition in your breath is measured at regular intervals to determine whether bacterial overgrowth is present.

    Therapeutic approaches

Treatment for SIBO includes a special diet (usually the low FODMAP diet) or herbal antimicrobials and probiotics to restore a healthy balance in the gut.
